Suzette’s Lighting Setup for Hybrid Photography

I have been a portrait photographer for years and the lighting look that I prefer most comes from using a large Larson softbox, so in making the transition to hybrid, shooting stills and video, I want to maintain that look.

This was accomplished by using CFL bulbs purchased at Home Depot:
EcoSmart 27-Watt (100W) Full Spectrum Craft CFL Light Bulb
Model # ES5M827FS
Internet # 100687004
Store SKU # 409162

While not the perfect solution, with a custom white balance, I am able to get good results on a budget, while still being able to use the strobes when necessary.

The DiscoverMirorrless team is working with Larson Enterprises to develop a line of back plates, brackets and soft boxes for the hybrid photographer. So visit their new website at for a full line of hybrid modifiers.
